Using this new tool is really time saving. Let me explain what I mean. In old times, if you wanted to know if your favorite website had any interesting new information for you, you had to visit it. Nowadays, with the RSS(Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Subscribing), you are able to reach all your website updates. In fact, I'm not interested in the language the RSS uses to read a document, since it's too complicated to me. I can't understand HTML, XML, whatever language. What I thought really interesting was the fact that I would be able to see what's knew on my sites just going to my google account and use its reader. In order to have these updates, I just have to go to the site I want and subscribe to its RSS feed. That way, I'll keep in touch with it very easily and quickly. |
| This week was quite strange to me. When I got time to deal with our week tasks, I panicked. I mean, I really panicked, I had a panick attack. I had to call my doctor and take some medicine in order to be here. I almost gave up, but it's not a choice to me. I need these fascinating new tools. My teachers need them. My students need them.. Moreover, I'm having fun with my computer. Okay, not fun, but at least, while I'm here, I enjoy the fact I'm being able to do what I'd been asked to do. I see further.... I see what I can do with everything I'm learning, the advantages everybody can take from the information I'm getting here....I'm thinking of a project, create blogs for some classes in my course.. I just have to feel more comfortable with all these tools. In fact, I'll try to study everything we are seeing here in an appropriate time and then, show my teachers the possibilities we have in our hands. The more I learn with this course Web tools 4 Educators, the more I want to improve my teaching way. Yes, way, not techniques, methodology and so on... Way is a deeper change, I want to be better.I hope I'll get there... |
Online social bookmarking will be very useful to me as a teacher and as a school owner because it will allow me to share my ideas, interesting sites, etc... with my teachers wherever they are. Another aspect is that it will organize my chaotic teacher life, since I'm not the most organized person in Earth. Moreover, I'll have retrieve my bookmarks everywhere. The advantages of having bookmarking as a social activity is that I will be able to contact my students, my co-workers and all the information I want wherever I am.. That way the learning process will be very enriching.Using diigo inside the classroom would be a new, challenging thing. I could create a group and ask my students to find at least one interesting site about the American crisis, for example. After that, they'd be expected to share the site with the group and this group should read and discuss the theme inside the classroom, using all the information they had read. Talking about difficulties, I can't really tell you what mine were since I always have the feeling I'm losing something while I'm trying to do the tasks. However, I think I'm getting used to dealing with so much information at the same time and I was astonished to see how many things my students and I are not using that could help with the learning process. In fact, there are so many resources that it's amazing to realize how many different things I can do with my students. |

I have to be honest, I need to enrich my classes and students'
experiences inside the classroom, since I've always heard that using
technology inside the classroom nowadays is extremely important.
However, I have no clue how to do it. I wish this course allows me to
do it well because the main barrier to incorporating technology into my
classroom is me. I thought it was very interesting the cell phone idea, ask our students to send messages to other people, so that they will use the tools they have in hands and it will be thrilling. As a teacher, I think it's important to study. In fact, we have to keep studying and learning, so that we'll be able to provide the best for our students. That's what I try to do. I try to engage my students by using films, songs, games and etc. I also think we shouldn't forget the human aspect of the learning process. We have to recognise our students' feelings about the language, their lives, about everything. That's it for now. See you around. |
